Content style

Instagram captions lead with a strong first line (feed previews cut off around 125 characters), followed by short, punchy lines with generous line breaks. Captions close with 8–15 specific hashtags - mixing broad-topic and niche, long-tail tags - on their own line. Ideal length is 100–300 characters, up to Instagram's 2,200-character hard cap.

Links

Instagram doesn't make caption URLs clickable, so posts write the destination out in full on its own line above the hashtags rather than saying "link in bio". A reader can copy a URL; a bio points at one page for the whole account and changes whenever you edit it. The same applies to TikTok.

Because nobody can click it, an Instagram post is never counted as a backlink on your topic map - it shows as blocked, with a note that the caption names the destination. The count only ever reports links that a reader can actually follow.

Posting frequency

A steady, moderate cadence - a few posts a week, up to about 5 a week at the Aggressive tier.
