How to Get Pages Indexed Faster: Where Social Posts Help (and Where They Don't)

Public social posts and platform pages can create links that help search engines discover a new page, but they do not guarantee indexing. Here is the process and its limits.

Public posts that link to a new page can help search engines discover it, but nothing guarantees a page will be crawled, indexed or ranked. If a page is stuck as "Discovered, currently not indexed" or "Crawled, currently not indexed" in Search Console, social posts are one tool among several, and rarely the first one to try.

Why are pages not indexed?

Search engines decide whether to index a page based on whether they find it and judge it worth keeping. Typical causes are weak or duplicate content, few links pointing to it, and no clear route to it from the rest of your site. Fix those first.

What should you do first?

  1. Make the page worth indexing. Unique, useful content with a clear purpose.
  2. Link to it from your own site. From the homepage, hub pages and related articles. Internal links are the strongest signal you control.
  3. Include it in your XML sitemap and make sure it is not blocked or marked noindex.
  4. Request indexing for important pages through Search Console's URL Inspection tool. This is a request, not a guarantee.

Where do social posts and platforms help?

External links give crawlers another route to a page. Public posts on platforms that are crawled often, such as Reddit threads, LinkedIn articles, YouTube descriptions and public Facebook Pages, can link to your page. This is the discovery path our get pages indexed faster guide describes.

To do it well:

  • Link from a page that is itself public and indexed. A post nobody can see helps nobody.
  • Make the post useful on its own, so it stays up. See the platform playbooks.
  • Link once, to the exact page. Not to the homepage.
  • Do not spam. Mass posting gets removed and can hurt the account.

How do you check it worked?

Search for your page's URL or exact title in quotes, and check the URL Inspection tool and the Pages report in Search Console after a few weeks. If the page is still not indexed, go back to the content and internal links, not more posts.

What are the limits?

Social links can be nofollowed or short-lived, platforms change, and search engines may still choose not to index a page. Read what parasite SEO is for the risks, and the checklist for a repeatable process. If you want posts drafted from a page, use the Page Atomizer.
